口ひげを生やした米国人男性の平均収入は、あごひげを生やした男性より８．２％を多く、ひげを生やしていない男性と比べても４．３％多いことが、調査で明らかになった。

　一方で、口ひげを生やした男性は、そうでない人と比べて、出費が１１％多く、貯蓄は３％少なかった。

　この調査は２００９年１─６月に、米口ひげ協会などが、口ひげを生やした男性と、あごひげを生やした男性、ひげを生やしていない男性、各２０００人を対象に実施した。
